Unconventional Artist from Seychelles
Born in 1950 on the island of La Digue, Seychelles, Léon discovered his passion for art later in life. Over the years, he has immersed himself in a journey of exploration and experimentation, pushing the boundaries of conventional artistic methods. His work is deeply influenced by the trivial and ephemeral—whether through imagery, materials, or objects, both found and recreated—allowing him to craft a unique visual language that transcends traditional forms.
His 2015 exhibition at the Venice Biennale was a culmination of these influences, serving as a visual exploration of time, age, and identity—themes that remain at the core of his artistic practice.
